story—the hour of glorification—we learn that it is not achieved simply at the cross. It is only complete when Jesus finishes his work of bringing new life to the world. Jesus re-creates human life by breathing his Spirit into his followers. We have already seen that this promised gift is linked to the hour of glorification (7:38–39; 19:30, 34; 20:22). However, this linking of cross and Spirit is also suggested in almost every other text that shows some promise of the Spirit.
